The Set Zeitgeist Frame

The Set give us a look at Alex Jo…. I mean, Callan Stibbards’ signature Zeitgeist frame that will be out in a fortnight in Australia, New Zealand and the majority of Europe.  The U.S. and rest of the world will get them shortly after.  This frame features a super steep 75.5 degree head tube angle, a tiny 13.125″ chain stay length, a nice and low 11.5″ B.B. height, 8.25″ stand-over height and is available in 20.85″ and 21″ top tube lengths with either gloss black or satin(matte) black paint. You can check out more photos of the Zeitgeist here on The Set’s website.  While the measurements sound spot-on in my book, I still don’t see any head tube gussets from The Set….

The Set ‘Force Field’ Sprocket Guard

Set Chainring Guards

Whilst I was out at Interbike back in September I managed to bump into Marc from The Set. Marc’s a sound dude and had on him a prototype their new sprocket guard they’re calling the Force Field. After a solid few months of testing from the team it looks like the sprocket has passed with flying colours and is soon to be available.

CNC’d out of high quality Aluminium, this sprocket uses a rounded edge giving it a much cleaner profile than others currently available, and is spaced so you should be able to run a half link chain with no clearance issues. Available in Black and Polished and your choice of 25 or 28 teeth. Expect to see this sprocket and a whole load more products that the guys down under have been working on out at your local The Set dealer in March/Feb 2014.

If you haven’t already make sure you are following the guys on their new Instagram account (@the_setbmx) for more sneak peeks at future products and what the team are up to. Bonza.

The Set 2013 Catalog

The guys down under at The Set have been working super hard for almost a year now on their 2013 product line up, and you can check it all out here in this neat flip-book they hit us up with today. Loads of new stuff in there, most notably;

  • The all new lightweight Litening Fork and their beefed up Fat Forker Forks
  • The Stealth Cranks are now available in extra sizes 165, 170 & 180mm
  • Mantra sprockets in a wide variety of sizes 25,26,27,28 & 29T
  • Three new stems, The Wrangler high rise Top Load,  the 2 inch punch Front Load and the Blackout Top load
  • Kym Grosser & Kareem J Williams both have new signature bars and the Blackout bars are now available from 9″ to 9.75″ high, making them the highest bars available other than S&M’s Prefect 10s!

The Set is now distributed in the UK by Scoop Distribution and in addition to that 20Twenty Store in Scotland is also carrying a large portion of the new range, so if your looking for to get your hands on these goods in Europe hit up those guys. These products will be available in USA & Canda, although they don’t have official distributors yet….

For more info on these products or getting your hands on them, feel free to hit the guys at The Set up at info@thesetbmx.com.

The Set Stealth Cranks Rough Polish

The Set just hit us up with a sneak peek at a new finish they will be releasing their Stealth  2.5 piece Cranks in. They are calling it Rough Polish, which is certainly a more original option over the standard black or chrome  The Stealth Cranks also come in Black and Clear Raw in a choice of 180, 175, 170 and even 165mm arm lengths, so if your looking to upgrade to longer or shorter than usual Cranks like many riders are doing at the moment, these could be worth checking out. For those of you who are obviously questioning the drilled holes in the arms, Marc from The Set assured me that despite the holes, the Cranks are in fact bombproof;

“These crank arms kick any cranks ass out there and are crazy strong! For anyone concerned with holes, don’t be ! If anyone ever cracks a pair from the holes we will give you a free parts package & a new set of cranks! “

  • 2.5 Design
  • Weight – 0.930kg
  • Heat Treated Rectubular Chromoly Crank Arms
  • Wraparound Pedal Gusset
  • 19mm 48 Spline Hollow Chromoly Spindle
  • LHD & RHD Compatible
  • Flush Mounting & Sprocket Locator Bolts Included
  • Micro Drive Compatible

The Stealth Cranks are available now and of the above sizes and colours. Hit up your local dealer today to grab a pair!

Sneak Peek: The Set Sprocket Guard

Guard sprocket front

Neil from The Set hit us up with an exclusive first look at their new Sprocket with integrated Guard. Before you ask, no the guard isn’t plastic, they have 3D Printed the design onto Plastic to check dimensions and compatibility first which is a pretty neat concept.

“Here’s a couple of pics of the new sprocket guard we’ve been working on. We’ve had this on the go for a while now and were trying to keep this under wraps, but it seems like everyone else has started putting out guard sprockets now anyway. It’s still a while off production but hopefully not too long. We’ve got more new stuff in testing at the moment too so keep your eyes pealed!”

Guard sprocket rear

Pretty rad to see Sprocket Guards coming back recently, and with the more people riding four pegs and new grind variations being invented daily its a no brainer to run one.

20Twenty Store in Aberdeen has just received a shipment of stock from The Set so is you are after some of their gear outside of Australia be sure to hit them up!

The Set Seats and Hubs

Aussie brand The Set just dropped a sneak peek at two new products they have coming out for 2013. First up is their fat Pivotal Seats, available in a kevlar version with coloured stitching, and a microfiber suede version for the stealth look. These seats will be available worldwide in the next few weeks.

Next up is their new Terrorist Cassette Hub. No more info on this as of yet but it looks like it uses a 14mm female cromoly axle with 10mm female bolts for use with a 17mm socket. Always stoked to see new stuff from these guys, expect more later this year!
